Abstract:

Throughout the Colonial Era in America, games and sports were essential to relieve stress from working too much. The Indians preferred to play more rough games like Stickball, (a version of lacrosse), or games that included gambling. For instance, Bowl & Dice is a game of luck, skill, and chance. The Virginian Colonists were not as rough in game playing, for example, parlor games were popular for the holidays. During this time the whole family enjoyed each other’s company, but played at the same time. Games and sports were a special way to bring one’s self, your brother, sister, family, and even your whole community, together in a fun way.
