Militias

Abstract:

Throughout the course of mankind people have always needed protection from threats. This was no different for the settlers of colonial America. They needed to train and organize themselves in order to defend and fight battles. This necessity gave rise to the militia. Without the militia, many American colonies would have been decimated by Indians and other factions that wanted to destroy the English settlements. The militia supplied protection, and made expansion possible.
